Profile

Claudie Poinsard lives and works in Cagnes-sur-Mer since 1977.

Born between two cultures, from a Cameroonian mother and a French father, she exhibits on the international scene a rich and dense painted work, started by installations and performances.

In her plastic approach, she views bodies within their representation. Her thematic aspiration is to deconstruct the nice body shape, the one double from the mirror allowing the emptiness to appear. The body image, blended or represented, lost in material and conveyed in feature, breaks letting foresee the arbitrary power of its wrapping. The focal areas of her work seized the modern humanity.
The question of roots, the culture of waste, worship of beauty, and more recently loneliness in the being. She has participated lately to the events of The UMAM, «Homage to Jean Moulin»and «70 years of The UMAM».

She is an artist of the platform MAD (Gallery Mam, Douala, Atiss, Dakar, Don Wahi Foundation Abidjan). She exhibits in Denmark (Gallery Pia Juel Verland) and in France (Gallery Patrick Bartoli, Marseilles, Gallery Otéro, La Colle s/Loup, Blue Dog Litho, Bargemon).
